history
Mariadorf was named after the Mariagrube coal mine and was part of the municipality of Hoengen , which was incorporated into Alsdorf on January 1, 1972.

Mariadorf can be reached via the Alsdorf exit on the A44 .
The place used to have its own train station with a reception building at the level crossing on Blumenrather Strasse. This is now privately owned and has been converted into a mosque (Mevlana Mosque).
Since December 2011, the district has been accessible via the “Alsdorf-Mariadorf” Euregiobahn stop .

Sports
Mariadorf is home to the former table tennis Bundesliga team TTG RS Hoengen ( table tennis ; 1st Bundesliga 1998–2002, TT-Inter-Cup winner 1999, ETTU European Cup winner 2000). The football club Alemannia Mariadorf played for twelve years in the highest amateur league in the Middle Rhine region.
Culture
