Kellersberg is a centrally located district of Alsdorf in the Aachen city region . In the south is the Alsdorf district of Ofden , in the east Mariadorf and in the north the city center and Schaufenberg . Kellersberg has a kindergarten, a primary school and a vocational and commercial school. The Kellersberger mill is well worth seeing.

history

In the summer of 1906, the Eschweiler Mining Association (EBV) began building the “Kellersberg” industrial estate , which was named after the Kellersberg Castle that burned down there . Several construction phases followed. On October 1, 1932, Kellersberg came from Broichweiden to Alsdorf (both in the Aachen district ). Until then, Kellersberg belonged to the parish of Euchen .

Racetrack

On June 15, 1924, the Kellersberger Rennbahn was inaugurated, which only existed for a few decades. After it was used as a landfill, the vocational and commercial school was built on its site in 1958.

The next junctions are Alsdorf and Broichweiden on the federal motorway 44 . Alsdorf-Kellersberg has been a station on the Euregiobahn since December 2011 . The Herzogenrath train station is on the line Aachen-Geilenkirchen-Mönchengladbach and " Eschweiler Central Station " is located on the Aachen-Düren-Köln .

societies

The KellersMountainBiker are a smaller group of Kellersbergers who pursue the hobby of mountain biking together and collect numerous kilometers in the surrounding area, all the way to the Eifel. For the first time, the KellersMountainBiker were represented in the 24-hour race (Rad am Ring) at the Nürburgring in 2007.

Furthermore, Kellersberg has a drumming and playing club, as well as the football club SC Kellersberg, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2008.
