Schleiden has been a western part of Aldenhoven since 1972 in the Düren district in North Rhine-Westphalia between Aldenhoven-Mitte and Alsdorf - Hoengen .

Schleiden, which is about two kilometers west of Aldenhoven, was first mentioned in a document in 997 under the name "Leidon". From 1836 there is a fairly reliable statistic that Schleiden had around 582 inhabitants.

In 1862 the parish church of St. Nikolaus was built in Schleiden , which was destroyed during the night of bombing from August 30th to 31st, 1943, as were many other buildings. In 1952 a new church was built, which was again consecrated to St. Nicholas. Schleiden also has a kindergarten, a sports field, a cemetery and a small sewage treatment plant on the " Hoengener Fließ ". There is a monument where this river crosses the main street “Siersdorfer Straße”. Schleiden also had its own train station until 1980. This station was a small through station with two bypass tracks without a large volume of goods. He had a reception building that was converted after the closure and is now privately owned.

On January 1, 1972 Schleiden was incorporated into Aldenhoven.

The co-founder of the Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood , Sister Maria Paula Emunds, comes from Schleiden .
