Radamés González

Radamés González ( Radamés González Tamayo; born February 4, 1956 in Río Cauto ) is a retired Cuban marathon runner .

At the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1978, he finished fourth.

In 1979 he won the Pan American Games in San Juan in 2:24:10 h and the 30 km road race of the Central America and Caribbean Championships.

In 1980, in eleventh place in the Karl Marx Stadt Marathon, with 2:16:15 h, he was the first Cuban to stay below the 2:20 hour mark. At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, he did not reach the goal.

A victory in the marathon of the Central American and Caribbean Championships in 1981 was followed the following year in a fifth place in Karl-Marx-Stadt and silver in the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1982. In 1984 he was second in Karl-Marx-Stadt, and in 1985 he won one Marathon in Havana with another national best time of 2:15:23 h.

In 1986 he finished fourth in the Seville Marathon and again won silver at the Central American and Caribbean Games.

In 1988 he won the Budapest Marathon , took bronze at the Ibero-American Championships and set his third Cuban record and the current course record as the winner of the Calvià Marathon with 2:13:08 h. At the IAAF World Cup marathon in 1989, he came in 15th place.

In 1990 he won the Valencia marathon . In 1991 he won bronze at the Pan American Games in Havana and won the Mexico City Marathon .
