Radek Slončík (born May 29, 1973 in Šumperk ) is a former Czech football player .
Career
Radek Slončík started playing football at Lokomotiva Pramet Šumperk. At the age of 14, the midfielder moved to the youth of Baník Ostrava . In Ostrava he made the leap into the first team in the 1990/91 season at the age of 17. In the following years Slončík developed into one of the best playmakers in the Czech league.
On December 11, 1996 Slončík made his debut in the Czech national team , for which he played 16 more games until 2000.
Since 1992 Radek Slončík had serious knee problems and had to undergo several operations. When he moved to Sparta Prague in 2000 , expectations were high. But it was precisely the chronic knee problems that made Slončík difficult to deal with. In a year and a half, he only played 13 games. In January 2002 he moved to Budapest for Újpest FC . After a short period of acclimatization, he became one of the top performers of the purple-whites. In the 2002/03 season he played all games and scored four goals.
When Újpest had financial difficulties in the summer of 2003, Slončík moved back to Baník Ostrava until 2004, despite an ongoing contract, even if it initially looked as if FK Drnovice would sign him .
He didn't play as often as in the 1990s, but with his experience and as a leader he was an important player in the team. In the 2006/07 season he was captain , before he moved to Fotbal Fulnek in the MSFL, the third division, in the 06/07 winter break. The main reason was the management's goal to rejuvenate the team with a view to the future.
In January 2009 Slončík moved within the 2nd division to MFK Karviná . He ended his career there in the summer of 2011.
In the first Czechoslovak or Czech league Radek Slončík played 256 games and scored 17 goals.
