Radewitz is a district of Diesbar-Seusslitz in the municipality of Nünchritz in the district of Meißen in Saxony . The former village and later Vorwerk was always connected with Seusslitz.

Today's four-sided single estate Radewitz takes the place on the narrow ridge between the 50 meters lower Seusslitzer Grund and the 70 meters lower Elbe. Around 1900 Radewitz is described as a single property in the Seusslitz corridor.

history

Radewitz is first mentioned in 1205 under the name Ratsuwitz. The area was settled long before that. Not far from Radewitz is the Goldkuppe with a Bronze Age rampart. The place name probably means people of the rado or wheel after an Upper Sorbian personal name. The place name was repeatedly subjected to changes so Radewitz was in 1279 in Ratsuitz called, 1295 Raschewycz 1299 Razwicz or Ratzewicz in 1336. 1378 will be the place then Racswicz windisch called, proving the presence of Sorbian settlers. Radewitz was not used as a place name until 1551.

In 1300 a document mentions the Tief Weg or Hohlweg as a connection between the Seusslitz monastery and Meissen . The public road goes as a mountain road from Seusslitz via Radewitz to Meißen. At the end of the 14th century, Radewitz was used as a sheep farm for the monastery. After its dissolution, in 1545 the electoral chancellor Simon Pistoris bought the former monastery with the outlying works of Seusslitz , Merschwitz and Radewitz, including the fron of the villages. In 1572 the Radewitzer Vorwerk was used as a sheep farm for the Seusslitz manor. Up to 1000 sheep were kept there. Heinrich von Bünau, the new owner of Seusslitz, bought Radewitz in 1725.

In 1875, Radewitz consists of the shepherd's farm and two winegrowers' houses. 23 people lived there. Since the Tief Weg no longer suffices for modern vehicles, the Neue Straße was built between 1937 and 1939 as a new connecting road to Radewitz. The start of the war interrupts construction. The top piece will only be completed after the end of the war by the new farmers who have settled in Radewitz . In 1959, between Heinrichsburg and Goldkuppe, the Radebeul people's winery began its activities in the Lenz-Moser culture on the land of former Radewitz new farmers. At the end of the 1960s there were 35 hectares in Radewitz. Today the estate is a branch of the Schloss Wackerbarth state winery , partly managed by an equestrian e. V.
