Radio 10 is a Dutch radio station that specializes in international music hits (mainly from the 1960s to the 1990s). In addition to music and moderation, there is also advertising, jingles , a competition ( Kraak de Kluis ) and news on the hour from the ANP news agency.

history

The first "on air" presenter was Rob van Someren, later, among other things, with the public legal 3FM and then again - with his program Somertijd - with Radio Veronica . The station played - and still plays - a mixture of soft pop , oldies , soul and rhythm and blues with a wide rotation.

Radio 10 Gold could be received in the Netherlands via medium wave 828 kHz and by cable. Another reception option is via the satellite ASTRA 19.2 ° East, 12574 GHz horizontally polarized , digitally unencrypted or heard online on the Internet at www.radio10gold.nl. Until mid-2007 Radio 10 Gold could also be received outside the Netherlands on the medium wave frequency 1008 kHz.

The owner is Talpa Radio Nederland, which also operates the Juize.FM and Radio 538 channels . The station has been on the air since April 4, 1988, initially for legal reasons as a satellite program for Milan , which was only allowed to be fed into Dutch cable networks as a "foreign" program under the name Radio 10 . Distribution in the cable network without this detour has been legal since 1992 . Shortly afterwards, Radio 10 Gold temporarily received some FM frequencies in the north of the Netherlands. From January 28, 1994, the transmitter could be received terrestrially on medium wave (until May 2003 on the medium wave transmitter Lopik 675 kHz). The station called itself the meantime Radio 10 FM after his 1998 FM - frequency 103 MHz had been allocated. In 2003, as a result of the electrosmog discussion, there was political turbulence around the Lopik station, which ultimately led to its relocation. When its frequency was re-tendered, Radio 10 FM received nothing.

After an interim solution (broadcast with low power on 1395 kHz), the station has been called Radio 10 Gold again since December 1, 2003, and on July 1, 2004, the English operator Radlon Media Ltd. take over the frequency 1008 kHz on the medium wave transmitter Flevo .

Until the end of August 2007, Radio 10 Gold could be heard all over Europe at night: On the 400 kW medium wave 1008 kHz, on which NOS Radio 1 used to broadcast. In the meantime, the frequency and the MW station have been released. After a transitional phase, the Dutch broadcaster “Groot Nieuws Radio” subsequently recorded its program on December 1, 2007 on 1008 kHz.

Many Dutch radio presenters, also known from public service broadcasting, worked for the station and some still do it today. The jingles were produced by Top Format Productions BV . For a long time, jingles were also used that had been made in the 1980s for the then New York broadcaster WNBC .

In a press release on March 5, 2007, the station announced that it would cease broadcasting on medium wave 1008 kHz for financial reasons. One wants to concentrate on the distribution channels cable, satellite and internet. The broadcaster was also dissatisfied with the falling advertising revenues.

Since Monday, October 18, 2010, Radio 10 Gold can be received again via medium wave. The program is broadcast all day on 828 kHz via the Heinenoord transmitter . During the day it is transmitted with 20 kW, at night only with 5 kW.

On Sunday, September 22, 2013, transmission was stopped above the medium wave frequency 828 kHz.

Furthermore, the station name was changed from Radio 10 Gold back to Radio 10.
