WNBC

WNBC was a commercial radio station based in New York City , broadcasting from 1922 to 1988 . For most of its existence, the station was the flagship of the NBC Radio Network (initially as NBC Red ). The Clear Channel Station transmitted with 50 kW on medium wave 660 kHz.

history

The National Broadcasting Company was created in 1926 by the Radio Corporation of America and took over the station with the callsign WEAF from AT&T four years after it was founded . for $ 1 million. In 1946 the station was renamed WNBC and again in 1954 in WRCA , finally back in 1960 again in WNBC .

On October 7, 1988, WNBC ceased operations. The frequency was taken over by the CBS radio station WFAN (today Entercom ).
