Radio RheinWelle 92.5 is a non-commercial local radio broadcaster in Wiesbaden . It is financed from membership fees, donations and funding from the LPR Hessen. The program is designed by the members of the sponsoring association and by independent groups.

program

The program deals with topics that are barely covered in other media and that offer a public forum for as many different groups in society as possible. The station thus contributes to the diversity of opinion in the region. One focus of the program is Open Group Radio (OGR) , which is broadcasting channels for clubs, groups, initiatives and associations that can be freely organized. The offer is used by Greenpeace , the Foreigners Advisory Council of the City of Wiesbaden, Amnesty International and others.

Musically, the station offers a mix of different styles of music , many of which have their own special programs .

history

The support association RheinWelle 92.5 eV was founded on August 23, 1996 and a cooperation agreement for joint licensing was concluded with the communal Radio Rüsselsheim (K2R) . The broadcast was from the joint studio in Rüsselsheim . A studio for pre-productions was already in Wiesbaden, which was later expanded and has been used for live broadcasts since April 1999.

In May 2001, the station took part in the tender for its own VHF radio frequency in Wiesbaden. On March 25, 2001, Radio RheinWelle 92.5 was granted approval by the Hessian State Media Authority ( LPR) to host and broadcast a non-commercial full local radio program.

reception

The program is broadcast by a transmitter in Wiesbaden on Konrad-Adenauer-Ring on 92.5 MHz (100 watt ERP ) and can be received in Wiesbaden, Mainz and the surrounding area. In a pilot project, the program has also been available on the DAB + digital radio (channel 12C in the Hessen-Süd multiplex) since January 1, 2017. Radio Rüsselsheim and Radio RheinWelle 92.5 Wiesbaden / Mainz share the broadcasting slot every quarter. As part of this cooperation, RheinWelle 92.5 broadcasts from January 1st to April 30th and July 1st to September 30th. The DAB + ensemble is broadcast on channel 12C from the Hessian transmitter locations Mainz-Kastel with 5 kW, Großer Feldberg im Taunus with 4.5 kW, Frankfurt telecommunications tower with 5 kW and Hardberg in the Odenwald with 5 kW, creating a reception area between Giessen and Ludwigshafen / Mannheim as well as Eltville in the Rheingau and Hanau are supplied.
