The Radziwiłł Palace (also: Zegrzyński Palace , Polish Pałac Radziwiłłów or Pałac Zegrzyńskich ) in Zegrze is a classicist , former summer residence, which is located on the high north bank of the Zegrze reservoir . The palace was inhabited by Polish magnates and Russian generals . Today there is a hotel here.

history

The palace was built in 1862 by the then owner family of Zegrze, the Krasińskis . Jadwiga Krasińska married the magnate's son Maciej Radziwiłł in 1862 ; the couple received the property as a dowry and lived here. When the tsarist regime in Poland decided to expand the place into the Zegrze fortress, the Radziwiłłs had to sell the palace and its surroundings to the Russian military for 300,000 rubles at the end of the 19th century . The couple owed the relatively high purchase price to the good contacts Maciej Radziwiłł had with Tsar Alexander III. whom he had served as chamberlain since 1884 . In 1902 the Radziwiłłs built a new palace in neighboring Jadwisin.

On August 21, 1897, Tsar Nicholas II , accompanied by the Russian Minister of War Pyotr Semjonowitsch Wannowski , probably visited the palace, which had been converted into the summer residence of the Russian commander of the Warsaw fortress. As a result, the Russian generals Dmitry Woroniec, Epifan Husakow, Alexander Lebiediew and Alexander Petrov lived in the palace - which is why the building was also known as the “Palace of Generals” (Polish: Pałac Generałów ).

After regaining independence , the palace was used from November 1918 to 1921 by the now Polish fortress commander in Zegrze, Colonel Olgierd Pożerski. After the fortress garrison was dissolved and the military facilities were taken over by the Polish field post and telecommunications troops , the palace and its well-tended park were used for recreational purposes in the interwar period.

In 1959 the Polska Agencja Prasowa took over the palace and its park and used it as a rest home. Since September 2009, the palace and park have belonged to the modern Centrum Kongresowe Warszawianka in nearby Jachranka. Since then the property has been used as a hotel and conference center. In the palace itself there are around 15 guest rooms, in smaller buildings in the extensive park with its old trees there are another 23 beds.
