Rae Morris (* 2. September 1992 as Rachel Anne Morris ) is a British singer-songwriter from Blackpool , whose debut album in 2015 appeared.

Career

Rae Morris began taking piano lessons at the age of four. In her later teenage years she wrote her first songs and began performing, accompanying herself on the piano. At the same time she attended Cardinal Newman College in Preston , where she took courses in music and theater.

In 2011, the BBC became aware of Rae Morris and gave her the opportunity to perform at the Reading and Leeds Festival . As a result, she signed contracts with Universal and Atlantic Records .

Her first collaboration with record labels resulted in the single Don't Go , which was used as the soundtrack for the Skins series in 2012 . In the summer of 2013 she went to Los Angeles and recorded her debut album with producer Ariel Rechtshaid .

More singles and EPs followed, of which Under the Shadows made it into the UK charts in 2015 as the first of their releases . Also in 2015, their debut album was released under the title Unguarded , which rose to number 9 in the charts. The album was rated 77/100 by Metacritic . Allmucis reviewer Matt Collar described the music as "captivating, hypnotic pop" with an atmosphere that evokes the Kate Bush of the 80s.

Her second album Someone Out There was released in February 2018. It reached number 20 in the British charts. Metacritic generated a rating of 74/100 from six reviews.
