Rafael Alcántara (* 1975 in Munich ) is a German saxophonist, singer and composer of Peruvian descent who is at home in jazz .

Alcántara, whose twin brother is the pianist Victor Alcántara , trained as a soloist in the Tölzer Boys Choir , with which he also performed internationally. From 1994 to 1998 he completed classical saxophone and composition studies in Munich, which was followed by jazz studies in Barcelona, ​​Madrid and Munich. Additional training as a music therapist followed .

In Madrid he gained experience as a member of the jazz avant-garde ensemble sax13 and as a sideman of musicians such as Bob Sands, Chris Kane and Fernando Samalea ( Noche en Madrid , 2002). In 2003 he presented his debut album Aqui y Ahora . With his brother he formed the Formacion Alcántara . He is also part of Harald Rüschenbaum's Cosmodrom . He also composed children's songs and founded the holistic method Leela Yoga (music and yoga with children).
