Rafael Campos

Rafael Campos (born May 13, 1936 in Santiago de los Caballeros , Dominican Republic , † July 9, 1985 in Woodland Hills , Los Angeles , USA ) was an American actor of Dominican origin.

Life

The Dominican Rafael Campos came to the USA in 1949. He took acting classes for a while. Campos became known to a wide audience in 1955 through his first film role as the rebellious Puerto Rican student Pete Morales in Richard Brooks ' film The Seed of Violence . This was followed by film appearances in The Plot , No Place for Fine Ladies , The Heart of an Indian , Tonka , Lady in a Cage and Southwest to Sonora . Campos has also appeared as a guest actor in numerous television series such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents , The Streets of San Francisco , Rhoda , TJ Hooker , Chief Physician Dr. Westphall and Das A-Team with.

Campos later worked as a screenwriter and director. He was married twice and divorced again, one wife was the blues singer Dinah Washington . Rafael Campos died of stomach cancer at the age of 49 . He left two daughters and was survived by five brothers and three sisters. Shortly before his death, he had been working on a book about Latinos in film.
