Raffaello Gestro
Raffaello Gestro (born March 21, 1845 in Genoa ; † June 6, 1936 there ) was an Italian entomologist who specialized in beetles .
Gestro was director of the municipal natural history museum in Genoa . He described 936 new species, mostly based on the collecting activities of other Italian entomologists (such as Leonardo Fea ) in Africa, Asia and Oceania. He wrote 147 publications on beetle taxonomy (especially on shield beetles ).
He was president of the Italian Entomological Society .
