The Petit-Couronne refinery was a French refinery in Petit-Couronne in the Seine-Maritime department in the Normandy region . As a result of the Petroplus bankruptcy , the refinery was shut down in 2012.

history

The operation of the refinery was started on March 1, 1929 by Pétroles Jupiter . Pétroles Jupiter was taken over by Shell in 1948 . On March 31, 2008, the refinery was sold to Petroplus by Shell . Shell also parted with the French refineries in Reichstett and Berre-l'Etang in 2008 .

On January 20, 2012, Petroplus announced its intention to sell the Petit-Couronne site. Thereupon the Klepsch Group , among others, registered interest in the refinery, but there was no sale. Shortly after the failed sale, Petroplus had to file for bankruptcy. After the bankruptcy, production on behalf of Shell continued for a few months.

Technical specifications

The refinery was supplied with crude oil via a pipeline which begins in the port of Le Havre .
