Ragang volcano is a stratovolcano on the Philippine island of Mindanao . It is on the border between the provinces of Lanao del Sur and Cotabato in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao . Ragang is one of 22 active volcanoes in the Philippines and the most active volcano in Mindanao. It belongs to a chain of volcanoes that volcanologists call Central Mindanao Arc (part of the Philippine island arc ), which also includes the Latukan and Mount Apo .

The summit is 2815 m above sea level, the mountain has a base diameter of 32 km.

outbreaks

There is conflicting information about the number of outbreaks. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology names eight eruptions and dates the most recent eruption to July 1916. The Smithsonian Institution's Global Volcanology Program assumes that some outbreaks in the neighboring Makaturing can be attributed to the Ragang and dates the most recent eruption to 1873.
