Smith Volcano (also Mount Babuyan ) is an active cinder cone on the Philippine archipelago Babuyan Islands belonging island Babuyan north of the main island of Luzon in the province of Cagayan . The Smith Volcano is one of 22 active volcanoes in the Philippines.
The cinder cone, only covered with little vegetation, has a height of 679 m above sea level and a base diameter of 4.5 km.
According to the Smithsonian Institution 's Global Volcanism Program , there could be five volcanic centers on Babuyan Island dating from the Pleistocene and Holocene periods . The largest is the Babuyan Claro or Mount Pangasun, an active stratovolcano with two summit craters of 300 and 400 m in diameter. Smith Volcano is four kilometers northwest of Babuyan Claro and is the youngest volcano on the island.

The Smith Volcano erupted a total of five times, the last eruption occurred in 1924. On July 8, 1993, the mountain was examined by volcanologists for reports of unusual volcanic activity, but no volcanic activity could be detected.
