Ragusa is the brand name of a Swiss chocolate line from the family company Chocolats Camille Bloch . Ragusa was originally only offered in bar form and consists of a hazelnut praline filling and whole hazelnuts.

history

In 1942, the Swiss entrepreneur Camille Bloch introduced a new type of chocolate bar. Due to the raging Second World War , cocoa became scarce in Switzerland. In contrast, hazelnuts - imported from neutral Turkey - were available. A layer of nougat was filled with whole hazelnuts and covered with chocolate. The Classique version of the chocolate is still produced today using the same recipe.

According to the company, the cocoa is sourced from Ghana and Ecuador , whereby the company relies on the Source Trust organization to support the cocoa farmers and to “promote sustainable, ecologically and socially compatible cultivation ”.

Surname

The name refers to Ragusa, the old name of the Croatian city of Dubrovnik , where Camille Bloch once spent his vacation. The name is also suitable for all four national languages of Switzerland.
