Raimond Labe

Raimond Lätte (born February 22, 1931 in Tartu , † January 6, 1997 in Tallinn ) was an Estonian composer.

Life

After studying music in Tartu, Raimond Lätte completed his studies in choral conducting with Artur Vaher in 1957 and in 1961 his studies in composition with Anatoli Garšnek at the Tallinn State Conservatory . From 1957 to 1986 Lätte was the music editor at the Estonian publisher Eesti Raamat . From 1961 to 1965 he taught at the Tallinn Music School and from 1978 to 1985 he was a teacher at the Tallinn State Conservatory. Since 1962 he was a member of the Estonian Composers' Union ( Estonian Eesti Heliloojate Liit ).

In 1981 Raimond Lätte received the annual music prize of the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic , and in 1984 the title of "Honored Artist of the Estonian SSR".

Compositions

In addition to numerous choral works, Lätte composed ten cantatas , two symphonic poems and two wind quintets.
