Rainer Barzen

Rainer Barzen (born May 26, 1957 in Duisburg ) is a German artist .

Barzen studied from 1976 to 1982 at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with Gotthard Graubner , Norbert Kricke and Alfonso Hüppi . In 1987 he was awarded the Da Vinci Prize and a support booth from Art Cologne , and in 1988 he received a grant from the Kunstfonds Bonn Foundation . In 1989 he was awarded the Früh Prize for Painting in Cologne. From 1991 to 1994 he was a visiting professor at the Art Academy in Münster . He lives and works in Cologne. His work includes painting and objects.

His works have been shown in group exhibitions since 1983 and in solo exhibitions since 1986. The focus of his activity is the Cologne area, where most of the exhibitions have taken place so far. He had important solo exhibitions a. a. 1989 at the Kunstverein Bochum and 1999 at the Mannheimer Kunstverein .
