Rainer Höh

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rainer Höh (born September 7, 1955 in Holzelfingen ) is an adventurer, translator and travel writer .

In addition to studying Indology and Sinology at the University of Freiburg for three semesters, Rainer Höh managed to get by with odd jobs between his expeditions. After a trip to Asia, Rainer Höh was later increasingly drawn to the wilderness of the north. He went hiking, canoeing, rafting, snowshoeing and dog sledding tours in Lapland , Alaska and Canada .

Together with his brother, Axel Höh, he looked for a building site for a log cabin in the vast expanse of the Yukon Territory . Luggage and provisions are transported up the Höhs by canoe across the Yukon River near Dawson . Höh lived there for some time as a dropout away from the civilized world.

After the fall of the GDR, he and his brother Peter Höh explored this unknown country. In 1990/91 both wrote a travel guide about the new federal states. He founds a wilderness school and gives special courses on forest and wilderness hiking. In his other publications he gives useful tips on the subject of outdoor and survival.
