Rainer Hartmann (tourism planner)

Rainer Hartmann (* 1966 in Bassum ) is a German leisure and tourism expert and professor at the University of Bremen .

Career

After studying geography (1989–1994) and sports science (1987–1992) at the University of Heidelberg, Rainer Hartmann was a research assistant at the Institute for Geography at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg from 1994–1998. His professional focus was on economic, tourism and urban geography. He worked on a research project on tourism in Eritrea, which was related to research stays of several months in the "Horn of Africa" ​​(Eritrea, Ethiopia) and in Yemen. From 1996 to 1998 he worked as a part-time project manager and head of study trips to Eritrea and Ethiopia for the tour operator Ivory Tours in Nuremberg. In 1998 the doctorate to Dr. rer. nat. at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. The title of the dissertation is “Eritrea: A new beginning with tourism. An integrative planning and development concept ".

Since 1999, Hartmann has been putting his academic skills into practice as a senior consultant for municipal and management consulting. He built up the tourism and leisure projects area for CIMA Beratung + Management GmbH and also advised various municipalities and companies in the areas of city ​​marketing and city management. In 2004 he received a call from the International School of Management (ISM) in Dortmund to teach there in the field of tourism and leisure management. After just one year, he was called to the Bremen University of Applied Sciences, where Hartmann represents the only German course in the field of leisure science.

Rainer Hartmann has been teaching and researching at the Bremen University of Applied Sciences since September 1st, 2005, Faculty 3, area of ​​leisure science. Since 2006 he has also been the head of the program of "International Studies of Leisure and Tourism" M. A. His main focus is on leisure and tourism marketing, city marketing and city management, culture and event management as well as the geography of leisure and tourism.

Hartmann is a member of the German Society of Tourism Research (DGT), in the expanded board of the Working Group on Tourism Research in the German Geographical Society and the Audit Committee for the Tour Guide Certificate of the Federation of German Tourism Industry (BTW). He is also deputy chairman of the Institute for Leisure Science and Cultural Work (IFKA) e. V.
