Rainer Neumann (born October 30, 1949 in Legde ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Neumann initially trained as a locksmith and engineer . He then studied political science and law from 1981 to 1985 . He then worked as the manager of a hotel and restaurant business. Neumann is married and has four children.

Until 1993 Neumann was a member of the district assembly in Perleberg . In the state elections in Brandenburg in 1994 he was defeated as a direct candidate in constituency 1 (Prignitz I) against Dagmar Ziegler of the SPD , but entered the Brandenburg state parliament via the CDU state list . In the 1999 election , the constituency went back to Dagmar Ziegler, Neumann was re-elected to the Potsdam Landtag via the list. In the 2004 election , Neumann ran again in the Prignitz I constituency , but made it to the state parliament neither as a direct nor as a list candidate for a third legislative period. He was a member of parliament from October 11, 1994 to October 13, 2004. From 1994 to 1999 he was chairman of the legal committee of the state parliament, and from 1999 until he left the state parliament he was a member of the committee for urban development, housing and transport.

Neumann prevailed against Siegbert Meseck in an internal party vote in 2005 and was nominated by the CDU as a candidate in the constituency 56 Prignitz - Ostprignitz-Ruppin - Havelland I in the federal election. However, with 23.5% of the vote, it lagged behind the candidates from the SPD and Die Linke . Also in 6th place on the CDU state list, where Neumann was also posted, he missed entry into the Bundestag.
