Heinz Wittig (politician)

Heinz Wittig (born March 2, 1921 in Kauern , Gera district ; † September 14, 1989 ) was a German SED functionary.

Life

Wittig, the son of a bricklayer and a farm worker, also trained as a bricklayer between 1935 and 1938 after elementary school . He then worked in a job and performed from 1939 to 1945 military service in the armed forces .

In 1945 he and his father took over a six-hectare new farm in Kauern. A state-certified farmer since 1965, Wittig qualified as an agricultural engineer in 1969. In 1945 he joined the SPD and in 1946 became a member of the SED. From 1946 to 1956 he was a member of the SED district leadership in Gera. Between 1948 and 1953 he was mayor of Kauern and in July 1952 initiated the establishment of the LPG " Wilhelm Pieck ", the first in the Gera district . From 1953 to 1963 he was chairman of the LPG, one of the most powerful and well-known LPGs in the GDR. From 1954 he was a member of the SED district leadership in Gera , a candidate from 1956 to 1960, and a member of their office from 1960 to 1962. From March 1963 to 1986 he acted as chairman of the district agriculture council or as deputy chairman of the council of the district of Gera for agriculture, forestry and food industry. From March 1967 to March 1976 he was also a member of the secretariat of the SED district leadership in Gera, then remained a member of the district leadership until his death. From November 1971 to June 1986 he was a member of the Gera District Assembly .

At the fifth party congress of the SED in July 1958 he was elected as a candidate and on May 23, 1959 by the 5th central committee meeting as a member of the central committee of the SED . On February 27, 1966, on the IX. German Farmers Congress its election to the Agriculture Council of the GDR . From 1968 he was a member of the Council for Agricultural Production and the Food Industry of the GDR. In March 1986 Wittig retired. In April 1986 he was a veteran delegate of the XI. SED party congress, but was not re-elected to the Central Committee.
