Rainer Schütterle (born March 21, 1966 in Kehl ) is a former German soccer player .

Schütterle began his career at Karlsruher SC , where he switched from amateur to professional squad in 1985 and played for KSC in the 2nd Bundesliga . When KSC was promoted to the Bundesliga in 1987 , Schütterle moved to arch-rivals VfB Stuttgart , with whom he made the 1989 UEFA Cup final . After two seasons he returned to KSC, where from 1989 to 1994 he was one of the regular players in the team that reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup in the 1993/94 season.

In 1994 Schütterle moved to league competitor MSV Duisburg , with whom he was relegated to the second division a year later. After another season at MSV and the return to the Bundesliga, Schütterle went to the Upper Austrian club SV Ried for one season in 1996 , followed by two years at the second division club SC Fortuna Köln , before he found his way back to KSC for the 1999/2000 season .

Schütterle was mainly used as a midfielder, but was also used in defense. He scored 42 goals in 236 Bundesliga games, and in the second division he made a total of 156 appearances and 36 goals.

After his footballing career, Schütterle, who completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk as well as a degree in financial administration, was a member of the board of directors. From September 30, 2003 to November 6, 2009 he was Vice President of Karlsruher SC.
