Rainer Schmidt (trumpeter)
Rainer Schmidt (born September 26, 1947 in Hamburg ; † 2008 ) was a German physicist and jazz musician ( trumpet , cornet ).
Act
Schmidt began playing the trumpet at the age of 16, largely as an autodidact . Between 1966 and 1969 he was a cornetist with the Speakeasy Blue Blowers . In 1971 he founded the band Blues Serenaders , which he led and which had been active as Hot Shots since 1974 . At the end of the 1970s, a regular line-up of the Hot Shots had been found, which remained together for over 20 years without change, completed club appearances and worldwide tours and recorded several LPs and CDs. After studying physics (doctorate as Dr. rer. Nat. ), He completed his habilitation in 1987 at the Radiological University Clinic and Radiation Institute in Hamburg. Since 2002 he has been teaching medical physics as a professor in Hamburg .
