Rainer Schwartz

Rainer Schwartz (* 14. January 1983 ) is a German football - goalkeeper .

He played at 1. FC Kaiserslautern since his youth and then moved to FK Pirmasens in 2005 , with whom he was promoted to the third-class Regionalliga Süd a year later .

The 1.88 m tall Schwartz was only a substitute goalkeeper in league games, only in cup games he was number one between the posts. On September 9, 2006, he saved two penalties in the penalty shoot-out of the DFB Cup match against Werder Bremen and was thus instrumental in the victory against the Bundesliga club and Champions League participant. In the interview that followed the game, he revealed that he had never lost a penalty shootout in his career.

Schwartz switched back to amateur football in the following years. He played for SV Hermersberg from 2008 to 2010 and for SV Edenkoben from 2010 to 2012 . He has been active for VfL 1907 Neustadt since 2012 .
