Rainer Siebert (born May 25, 1952 in Burg ) is a German politician ( FDP ).

Life and work

After attending the Polytechnische Oberschule (POS) and the vocational school, which he graduated from high school in 1971 with an apprenticeship as a lathe operator, Siebert did basic military service with the NVA in 1972/73 . In 1974 he began studying at the Potsdam University of Education , which he completed in 1978 as a graduate teacher. Then he entered the school service. Most recently he was deputy head of the district administration and head of the economic department at the district administration in Herzberg .

Rainer Siebert is married and has four children.

politics

Siebert joined the LDPD in 1974 , joined the FDP during the political change in the GDR and was elected to the board of the FDP district association Herzberg in 1990. From 1990 to 1994 he was a member of the Brandenburg State Parliament , where he was chairman from 1990 to 1992 and deputy chairman of the FDP parliamentary group from 1993 to 1994. From 1999 to 2003 he was deputy state chairman; from 2003 he was state treasurer and member of the state board of the FDP Brandenburg.

On March 17, 2010, he resigned from his political offices after the Bild-Zeitung had published about a previous engagement of Sieberts as an IM of the Stasi . These allegations could not be proven, Siebert nevertheless resigned to protect the FDP Brandenburg.
