Rainer Wollny

Rainer Wollny (* 1959 ) is a German sports scientist and university professor .

Life

Wollny studied between 1980 and 1986 at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen and the University of Bielefeld in sports and biology to become a teacher. He passed the first state examination and then worked as a research assistant at the University of Bielefeld from 1987 to 1992, where he wrote his doctoral thesis in 1992 on the topic of "Stability and variability in motor behavior: theoretical principles and electromyographic verification of coordination and learning of complex forms of movement in the Sport ”.

Between 1992 and 1994 Wollny held a position as a research assistant at the Free University of Berlin . In 1995 he received a habilitation scholarship from the German Research Foundation and wrote his thesis at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , where he also worked as a research assistant from 1998 to 2006. In 2000 he completed his habilitation in sports science. In the period from 2000 to 2002, Wollny held substitute professorships at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and the University of Stuttgart  . In 2006 he took up  a professorship for sports science at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg .

From 2009 to 2011, Wollny was the spokesman for the sports motor skills section of the German Association for Sports Science .

One of the main focuses of Wollny's research work is motor development, he dealt with the concept of body contact, brought out the work "Movement Science: A Textbook in 12 Lessons", also carried out studies in the areas of sports game research, schools with a focus on sports, athletics training (under also in physical education) and skiing methodology.
