Rainer Zendron (born October 27, 1955 in Linz , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian artist, curator at the Art University Linz .

Life

Rainer Zendron has been a university professor since 1992 and was Vice Rector for "Studies and Teaching" from 2000 to 2011 and Vice Rector for "Research and Development in the Arts" at the University of Artistic and Industrial Design in Linz from 2011 to 2017 .

Cultural policy and conceptual activities (extract)

From 1980 to 1995 he worked in the artist group Stadtwerkstatt , about ten years of which in an artistic and conceptual management position. During this time he was engaged in conceptual, artistic and collaborative work on numerous local and international projects. From 1983 to 1986 he chaired the student body at the Linz Art University. In 1989/90 he was responsible for the creation of a concept for the establishment, establishment and development of the OK Center for Contemporary Art for the Upper Austrian provincial government , of which he has also been an artistic advisory board member since 1991, and where he has also been a permanent curator since 1995 is working. In 1991/92 he also created a concept for the Upper Austrian regional government for the establishment, structure and development of the Festival of the Regions , which he was subsequently in charge of as a curator from 1993 to 2000. From 1993 to 1996 he designed and founded the Upper Austria Architecture Forum . In 1997/98 he was responsible for the conception and curatorial work for the Linz European Cultural Month for the Linz City Administration.

Artistic and curatorial activity (extract)

As part of his artistic-cooperative work, Zendron was involved in local and international projects (A / CH / D / F) in the Stadtwerkstatt from 1980 to 1990 , which basically understood themselves as collective and integrative artistic work. So it was always considered that artistic, curatorial and organizational aspects of a project were worked on and decided jointly in the group. In 1982 he was shown with work at the Mexico City Photography Biennale.

As a curator, he was in charge of a process-oriented project under the title "Kraft des Material" in 1992, in which artists and theorists from different "fields" tried to work on the subject of material.
