from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rainer Maria Joseph Florian Ignatius Michael Gabriel Raphael Gonzaga of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha-Koháry (born May 4, 1900 in Pola , † March 25, 1945 in Gyömrő ) was a prince from the Catholic line of Saxe-Coburg-Koháry .

Life

Prince Rainer was the son of Prince August Leopold of Saxe-Coburg and his wife Archduchess Karoline of Austria-Tuscany (1869–1945), daughter of Archduke Karl Salvator and Princess Maria Immaculata of Naples-Sicily . The death of his older brother August and his father made him fourth in the Roman Catholic line of the princes of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to the heir of the house of Koháry and head of this Saxon-Coburg line in the Kingdom of Hungary .

In the time of National Socialism he belonged to the NSDAP since September 20, 1930 after the list of those party members who are members of princely houses ( membership number 300.354, Gau Steiermark ).

He probably fell after March 25, 1945 in Gyömrő near Budapest (declared dead by order of the Munich District Court on May 19, 1961, with effect from December 31, 1945).

Eks and offspring

He married on December 15, 1930 in Munich Johanna Karolyi de Karoly-Patty, with whom he had a son Johannes Heinrich (1931-2010). After the divorce in 1935, he married Edith de Kózol on February 13, 1940 in Budapest . This marriage remained childless.
