Raimund Genrichowitsch Piotrowski

Raimund Genrichowitsch Piotrowski ( Russian Райму́нд (Раймо́нд) Ге́нрихович Пиотро́вский , also written by Rajmund G. Piotrowski ; born August 17, 1922 in Rubischne , Ukrainian SSR ; † August 4, 2009 in Saint Petersburg , Russia ) was a Soviet linguist and mathematical linguist . The Piotrowski law , the law of language change in quantitative linguistics , is named after him. Together with Anna A. Piotrowskaja, he was the first to attempt a mathematical modeling of language change processes. He held a professorship at the State Pedagogical Heart University of St. Petersburg .

Piotrovsky's grave is in the Smolensk Cemetery in Saint Petersburg.
