Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry ( Japanese 落第 騎士 の英雄 譚キ ャ バ ル リ ィ, Rakudai Kishi no Kyabarurii , dt. “Hero story of a knight who stayed seated”) is a light novel series by author Riku Misora with illustrations by Won. It has been released in Japan since 2013 and has been adapted as a manga and anime television series. The manga appears in German as Chivalry of a Failed Knight .

content

In a world where people with magical abilities known as “blazers” are trained as knights, Ikki Kurogane ( 黒 鉄 一 輝 ) is the most unsuccessful student at the Hagun Knight Academy. His abilities are weak and so is his "device", the weapon he can form from his soul. The fact that the notorious loser comes from a famous family doesn't make things any easier for him, as his relatives keep preventing him from being successful. One day, however, Stella Vermillion ( ス テ ラ ・ ヴ ァ ー ミ リ オ ン ), a princess from Europe, becomes his roommate. Since he surprises her while changing clothes, a duel ensues. Stella sets the stake that the loser must be of lifelong service to the winner, and then unexpectedly loses to a trick Ikkis. He doesn't value her submissiveness and just wants to peacefully share the room with her.

Stella is considered an exceptional talent among the young knights. Therefore she is nominated for the tournament of the seven knight academies. Hagun was not very successful recently and Stella should finally bring them another victory. Ikki is nominated as her partner. The continuation of his school attendance is linked to his success - after all, he has already stayed seated. The two roommates have to prepare for the tournament together and learn how their skills complement each other.
