Ralf Falkenmayer (born February 11, 1963 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a former German soccer player and coach . He played as a defensive midfielder and played 385 Bundesliga games.
Club career
He began his career at the Frankfurt district association SV Niederursel . In 1979 talent scouts from Eintracht Frankfurt noticed him, which led to the fact that he switched to the A-youth of Eintracht and in 1980 moved up to the 1st team.
For the Bundesliga team he first played between 1980 and 1987. During this time he won the DFB Cup in 1981 . In 1987 Ralf Falkenmayer moved to Bayer 04 Leverkusen , where he won the UEFA Cup in 1988 . However, he was not happy at Bayer, so he returned to Frankfurt in 1989.
He stayed there until 1996, then moved to Eintracht Trier , where he had to end his career two years later due to a broken ankle.
National team
In 1984 Ralf Falkenmayer was appointed to the senior national team. He was part of the DFB squad for the 1984 European Championship , but was not used. For the national team he played four international games between autumn 1984 and spring 1986. In the U-21 national team he was called up in 16 matches and was also on the ball once for the Olympic selection .
After the active career
After the end of his career, Falkenmayer was coach of SV Niederursel , where he was used as a player- coach in 2003 in a game of the district league , and which he coached until 2012. The trained swimming master assistant works today in a wholesaler for laminate and parquet in Darmstadt.
