Ralph Brodel was born on August 31, 1962 in Bitburg as the son of a hotelier. Three years after his birth, Ralph Brodel moved to Stuttgart with his parents . After graduating from secondary school, he trained as an insurance salesman at Allianz in Stuttgart. In 1984 he was elected national chairman of what was then the largest motorcyclists' association in Germany (Association of Motorbike Clubs Kuhle Wampe eV). In 1986 he founded the Federation of European Motorcyclists (FEM) and also became its chairman.

In 1987 he achieved his Abitur through a second education path. From 1987 to 1988 he studied education and social sciences at the University of Siegen and then moved to the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences. In 1991 he successfully completed his studies as a social worker and made his recognition year in the family management care of the city of Dortmund . In 1992 he became head of the Drug Emergency Study in North Rhine-Westphalia.

In 1993, Brodel switched completely to political television journalism. There he produced magazine articles and short reports for ARD, ZDF and Tele5. He also worked abroad as a reporter. In 1993 he helped set up the West Film media agency in Essen for the WAZ media group. In 1994 he became editor-in-chief of what was then the largest independent TV editorial team in Germany (R1-Die Redaktion) of the Du-Mont-Schauberggruppe. He started the production of complete programs for mdr (travel bug, youth programs) and helped build the TV magazine ARD Brisant . In 1997 he moved to Schermbeck in the Wesel district.

In 2001 he founded his own TV production and PR agency (I-DEAR GmbH), where he was managing director until 2015. In 2005 Ralph Brodel was appointed as a lecturer at the German Academy for Public Relations, and in 2009 as a lecturer at the SRH University of Economics and Media in Calw. Political career

1979 Brodel became a member of the FDP, from which he resigned in 1982 due to the collapse of the social-liberal coalition. In 1988 he joined the SPD after a long break. There he became an assessor in the subdistrict board in the Wesel district in 2013, as well as on the state board of the self-employed in the SPD NRW. In 2014, Ralph Brodel ran as the SPD's candidate for mayor in the elections in the city of Schermbeck, in which he lost 25.32% despite a very good election result for an SPD mayor candidate in Schermbeck. In 2015, following a nationwide tender by the alliance "Zukunft Sundern" (SPD, FDP, Greens, Linke, WISU), he was nominated as mayor candidate for Sundern and was elected full-time mayor of the Sauerland city ​​of Sundern with 58.76% .
