Ralph Dawson

Ralph Dawson (born April 18, 1897 in Westboro , Massachusetts , † November 15, 1962 in Hollywood , California ) was an American film editor .

Life

Ralph Dawson began his career in film editing in the mid-1920s.

In addition to his work as an editor, he was also active as a director and screenwriter . In 1929 he directed his first film, The Girl in the Glass Cage ; The Bermondsey Kid was made in 1933, followed by his third film, The Life of the Party, the following year.

In 1937 he first worked as a screenwriter and wrote the screenplay for the film The Schooner Gang . By 1950 Dawson wrote two more scripts.

For the installation of 1,935 turned literary adaptation A Midsummer Night's Dream ( A Midsummer Night's Dream ) Dawson was the first time for the Oscar nominated and could win him the same. He won his second trophy in the Best Editing category in 1937 for his work on A Restless Life . He won his third and final Oscar for the adventure film Robin Hood, King of the Vagabonds in 1939. In 1955, he received another Oscar nomination for the film It's Always Day .

His last film he worked on was The Boss from 1956, after which Ralph Dawson retired from the film business.
