Ralph Dietl

Ralph Lothar Dietl (born February 29, 1964 in Stuttgart ) is a German historian .

Dietl graduated from high school in Esslingen and studied history, philosophy and economics at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen and Washington University in St. Louis . In 1995 he received his doctorate in Tübingen for a thesis on US policy on Central America under Foreign Minister William Jennings Bryan . From 1995 to 2001 he was a research assistant to Franz Knipping at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal . From 2001 to 2003 he was a fellow at King's College London . He has been Senior Lecturer in European and International Studies at Queen's University Belfast since 2003 .

Dietl's sister is the literary historian Cora Dietl from Giessen .
