Ralph Flanagan (actually Ralph Drew Flanagan ; born December 14, 1918 in Los Alamitos , California; † February 8, 1988 there ) was an American swimming athlete.

Ralph Flanagan competed for the sports clubs Miami SC and Miami Biltmore Aquatic Club. The 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles were the first in which he participated. There, however, he was eliminated in the semifinals of the swimming competition over 1500 m freestyle . At the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, he advanced to the finals in the 400m freestyle and 1500m freestyle competitions , where he finished fourth over 400m and fifth over 1500m. However, he only won a medal with the 4x200 m relay, in which he, together with John Macionis , Paul Wolf and Jack Medica, finished second behind Japan and ahead of the Hungarian relay in a time of 9: 03.0 min.

During his career he won a national AAU title twenty times, he held 26 national and two world records. At one point he held all the records in freestyle competitions, from short distances over 220 yards to long distances over a mile.

After the end of his career, he remained connected to swimming and worked for the Red Cross. Later he was in charge of security programs in Los Angeles. In 1978 he was inducted into the International Swimming Sports Hall of Fame .
