Ralph Hansch
Ralph Lawrence Hansch (born May 20, 1924 in Edmonton , Alberta , † February 29, 2008 ) was a Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper . At the 1952 Winter Olympics , he won the gold medal as a member of the Canadian national team.
Career
Ralph Hansch played during his career as an ice hockey goalkeeper for the Edmonton Flyers and Camrose Maroons, among others. With the Edmonton Mercurys , to which he joined just a few months before the tournament began, he represented Canada at the 1952 Winter Olympics. After the Winter Games, he ended his ice hockey career and became a firefighter.
International
For Canada , Hansch took part in the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo , where he and his team won the gold medal. During the tournament he wore the number 0 on his back - as the only ice hockey player in Olympic history.
