Ralph Gordon Noel King-Milbanke, 2nd Earl of Lovelace, 13th Baron Wentworth (birth name: Ralph Gordon Noel King ; born July 2, 1839 , † August 28, 1906 ) was a British nobleman and politician who lived between 1862 and 1906 as a Baron Wentworth was a member of the House of Lords . In 1893 he also inherited the title of Earl of Lovelace .

Life

He was the third child and younger son of William King, 1st Earl of Lovelace and his first wife Ada Augusta Byron , the only daughter of the poet George Gordon Byron, 6th Baron Byron , and his wife Anne Isabella Noel-Byron, 11 Baroness Wentworth . Under a royal license, he and his parents and siblings changed their family name from "King" to "King-Noel" in 1860. Another royal license from November 6, 1861 finally changed his family name to "King Milbanke".

When his older brother Byron King-Noel, Viscount Ockham died on September 1, 1862, he inherited the title of 13th Baron Wentworth and de jure the right to the title of Baron le Despencer . This became a member of the House of Lords, which he belonged to until his death on August 28, 1906.

When his father died on December 29, 1893, he also inherited the title of 2nd Earl of Lovelace and the subordinate title of 2nd Viscount Ockham and 9th Baron King .

King-Milbanke was married twice. His first marriage was on August 25, 1869 in St George's, Hanover Square, Fannie Heriot, daughter of the Reverend George Heriot. From this marriage came his only child, his daughter Ada Mary King . His second marriage, on December 30, 1880, was to Mary Caroline Stuart-Wortley, daughter of James Stuart-Wortley , who was an intermittent member of the House of Commons for 19 years and served as Solicitor General for England and Wales between 1856 and 1857 . However, this marriage remained childless.

Since he died without male descendants, inherited his half-brother Lionel Fortescue King , the title of the third Earl of Lovelace and related titles, while his daughter Ada King Milbanke due to a special succession regime (Special Remainder) the title of the 14th Baroness Wentworth inherited.
