Lionel Fortescue King, 3rd Earl of Lovelace DSO DL JP (birth name: Lionel Fortescue Noel King ; * 16th November 1865 ; † 5. October 1929 ) was a British nobleman and politician , who from 1906 to 1929 as the Earl of Lovelace Member of the House of Lords .

Life

Noel-King was the fourth child and youngest son of William King-Noel, 1st Earl of Lovelace and his second wife Jane Crawford Jenkins. After attending the renowned Eton College , he completed an officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS). He then found use as a captain in the 9th Queen's Royal Lancers cavalry regiment and was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) for his services . Most recently he served as a major in the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers Infantry Regiment .

After the death of his half-brother Ralph King-Milbanke, 2nd Earl of Lovelace on August 28, 1906, he inherited from this 3rd Earl of Lovelace and the title subordinate to this title as 3rd Viscount Ockham , of Ockham in the County of Surrey, and 10. Baron King , of Ockham in the County of Surrey. This also made him a member of the House of Lords, to which he belonged until his death in 1929. With a Royal License on May 5, 1908, he changed his name to Lionel Fortescue King. At times he was a magistrate (justice of the peace) and Deputy Lieutenant of Surrey .

On April 29, 1895, he married Edith Anson, daughter of Thomas Anson, 2nd Earl of Lichfield . From this marriage three daughters and one son were born.

The eldest daughter Evelyn Catherine King was married to Major General Miles William Arthur Peel Graham and his second marriage to Colin Patrick , who was a member of the House of Commons between 1931 and his death in 1942 and represented the constituency of Tavistock for the Conservative Party . The second daughter Phyllis Edith King was married to William Edward David Allen , who represented the constituency of Belfast West as a member of the House of Commons for the Conservative Party from 1929 to 1931 . The youngest daughter, Rosemary Diana King, was married to Lieutenant Colonel Alistair Monteith Gibb and to Martin de Hosszu.

His only son Peter Malcolm King inherited the title of 4th Earl of Lovelace and the associated titles after his death.
