Resistance bars / counterpoles

Widerstänke / Counterpoles - Memorial for the Victims of National Socialism, Josefsplatz, Baden near Vienna 2017

A memorial for the victims of National Socialism. 36 metal rods are distributed over the area of Josefsplatz in Baden and rise from the ground at different angles. There is a deliberate order inherent in these “resistance / counterpoles”, which at first appear to be irregularly scattered: They all strive for a Star of David that floats imaginary above the square, a symbol of memory of all the Jewish victims of National Socialism. The architectural implementation was carried out by and with ASAP HOOG PITRO SAMMER. The opening took place on April 23, 2017 in the Arnulf Rainer Museum , Baden
