Ralph Schieke (born December 5, 1966 in Herford ) is a German nature and wildlife filmmaker . He is an author, cameraman and producer.

Life

Ralph Schieke is a qualified biologist and journalist . Even as a child, he was always out and about in the natural surroundings with binoculars and a camera. He was particularly interested in the bird world and animal behavior . This was followed by studying biology at Bielefeld University with a focus on behavioral ecology.

After completing his internship at Westfalen-Blatt in Bielefeld , he worked as an editor for a few years . In 2000 he went to WDR as a freelance journalist , where he made his first experiences as a cameraman for short reports. In 2003 he and his wife Svenja founded the joint company MacroTele-Film Schieke GbR. From 2003 to 2009, the couple produced a four-minute contribution from local nature every week for the series hallo Niedersachsen ( NDR , 7.30 p.m.) - from the secret life of the ant lions to the wedding of the sand lizard . Longer articles were added later, in addition to pure nature reports and episodes for the series Expeditions into the Animal Kingdom . In 2011 Schieke was a cameraman for a nature film by NDR Naturfilm and National Geographic in the Masai Mara in Kenya . This was followed by an assignment in Alaska for the nature film series America's Natural Wonders . Since November 2015, Ralph Schieke and Svenja Schieke have been managing directors of blende8media, based in Bissendorf, Lower Saxony . His new project is a nature film about the Teutoburg Forest .
