Ramadhan KH (born March 16, 1927 in Bandung , Indonesia , † March 16, 2006 in Cape Town ) was an Indonesian writer.

Ramadhan Karta Hadimaja is considered to be one of the most important representatives of post-colonial Indonesian literature. His work includes poems, novels and short stories. He became known in Indonesia in the mid-1950s for his series of poems Priangan Si Jelita . This work, which has received an important national literary prize, is available under the title Priangan, glorious land in the German translation by the Malayologist Berthold Damshäuser .

Together with Berthold Damshäuser , Ramadhan KH was also co-editor of anthologies of German poetry in Indonesian translation and Indonesian poetry in German translation.

Ramadhan KH is considered to be the founder of the literary genre of the biographical novel in Indonesia . He was the author of numerous fictional biographies of Indonesian personalities of contemporary history, including that of the former Indonesian President Soeharto , which is also available in German translation.
