The Ramesch Bone Cave (cadastral number 1636 / 08a) is a cave in the Totes Gebirge in Upper Austria. It is located at the foot of the Ramesch ( Warscheneck group at 1960 m above sea level ).
In this cave, skeletal remains of cave bears (Ursus spelaeus eremus: Ramesch bear) were discovered. In addition, stone tools from Neanderthals were found dating from the interglacial between 65,000 and 31,000 BC. Come from BC. This time fell into a warmer climatic phase, which also allowed human lives in high mountain regions.
The finds are exhibited in the Austrian Rock Art Museum in Spital am Pyhrn .
