Rancid is a studio album released in 2000 by the punk band Rancid of the same name . After the album Rancid , which was released in 1993, it was the group's second self-titled album. Stylistically, the band returned with this album to punk and ska elements back, albeit with more hardcore -Einflüssen than in the prior albums Life Will not Wait . The album marks a radical break in style in the band's discography. While its predecessor, Life Won't Wait, was characterized by a joy in experimenting from reggae to rockabilly, which is unusual for punk rock, this album is more rooted than any other rancid album in aggressive hardcore punk. This is reflected not least in the playing time of the album: The album contains 22 songs with a playing time of less than 40 minutes, about 2/3 of the tracks are less than two minutes long.

The band took a rather unconventional path in recording the album: The album was recorded 'live', which means that all band members played at the same time.
