… And Out Come the Wolves is a music album by the American punk band Rancid , which was released in October 1995. The album was released shortly after the breakthrough of the band The Offspring and made Rancid the target of poaching attempts from large record companies. Ultimately, however, the band stayed with their independent label Epitaph Records .
... And Out Come the Wolves brings with it several stylistic changes and is still considered the quintessence of the musical style of Rancid, which the band on the following albums sometimes more experimental ( Life Won't Wait , 1998), sometimes harder ( Rancid , 2000) interpreted. The songs are slower than on the band's first two albums; For the first time, the band is using the second guitar that has existed since Let's Go for more sophisticated arrangements. For the first time, bassist Matt Freeman does not sing a lead voice, instead Lars Frederiksen's vocals are on an equal footing with Tim Armstrong's. Most noticeable, however, is the connection between ska and punk rock in several pieces of the album, which means a recourse to Freemans and Armstrong's former band Operation Ivy , which was sustainably concise for this connection. Freeman's filigree bass playing, which is unusual for punk rock, is also even more important, so that the bass solo in Maxwell Murder is one of the most famous in punk rock.
