Randall John "Randy" Gregg (born February 19, 1956 in Edmonton , Alberta ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player who played for the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks in the National Hockey League from 1982 to 1992 .
Career
Randy Gregg began his career as a hockey player on the University of Alberta team , for which he played from 1975 to 1979. He then played a season with the Canadian youth team before he was under contract with Kokudo Keikado Tokyo for two years in Japan. In the 1981/82 season, the defender made his debut in the National Hockey League when he ran four times in the playoffs for the Edmonton Oilers from his hometown. In October of the same year Gregg received a contract as a free agent with the Oilers, for which he played for the next eight years. During this time Gregg won the prestigious Stanley Cup three times in four years with Edmonton in 1987, 1988 and 1990 .
In 1990 Gregg was selected by the Vancouver Canucks , but he decided to retire from his career. After a year break, however, the Canadian decided to play another season in the NHL for Vancouver before finally ending his career in 1992.
International
For Canada , Randy Gregg took part in the 1980 Winter Olympics and 1988 Winter Olympics and the Canada Cup 1984 .
