Rangaunu Bay

The Raugaunu Bay is a bay in the north of the region Northland on the North Island of New Zealand . It is located between the base of the Aopouri Peninsula in the west and the Karikari Peninsula in the east. In the south of the bay there is a passage that connects the bay with the natural harbor Rangaunu Harbor . East of the passage is the only place directly on the bay, Rangiputa . To the northwest is another smaller natural harbor, Houhora Harbor . East Beach stretches between the two harbors . To the north of the entrance to Rangaunu Harbor there are two small bays facing west, Raupo Bay and Motutara Bay , after which the coast runs as Karikari Beach on the north side of the Karikari Peninsula to the east. The eastern end of the bay is a headland that continues into the sea as the Moturoa Islands .
