Ranking lists in sport

Rankings are in the sport used to evaluate the performance of individual athletes, teams or groups over a set period of time in a rank order to bring, or to determine the or the best. These rankings can e.g. B. annual rankings or semi-annual rankings, but they can also extend over periods of time specified by the sports associations. Examples of rankings are medal tables , world rankings and perpetual tables .

Examples of ranking lists in specific sports

In sailing in Germany, in addition to the rankings mentioned, the rankings of the individual boat classes from the registration deadline for a German championship in the current year to the registration deadline for the championship next year are set up as so-called championship rankings .

The ranking list for German table tennis players is published by the German Table Tennis Association DTTB . Until the mid-1980s, it was drawn up manually by an evaluation committee. From 1985 the DTTB used a computer program in the men's area.
